Knight-Time
I've got my 1st commission! My shrink wants me to make the little knight from Creepy Crochet for her grandson. How crazy is that? ;) I want to make one for my brother too (in honor of his favorite Monty Python movie The Holy Grail) so I'll get a lot of practice making amigurumi over the next few weeks...

Robot pattern from Creepy Crochet. Made w/Caron Simply Soft in Dusky Green & Dusky Purple.
Wedding Plans
We've got a date (October 11th.) We've got a place (Corolla, NC.) We've got venues (the beach & a beach house.) And we're going DIY all the way (well, almost... I'm hoping to find a photographer that doesn't charge a bajillion dollars!) Food, flowers, decorations, invitations; all being done by family & friends. During the constant news coverage of Jenna Bush's wedding, all I could think was, "A simple wedding?! A small wedding?! You've GOT to be kidding me!" I guess it all depends on what your definition of "small" is. Even though I'm making my own favors, wearing flip-flops and doing my own make-up, I know "small" is the last thing I'll be feeling when Bruce and I make our promises to each other.

Calla Lily
During a working visit to my future in-laws' beach house last month, I got totally hooked on making flowers. Here's how some of them turned out... ( Pattern: Nicky Epstein's Crocheted Flowers. Yarn: Wildflowers DK)

Cylon or Human?
All I know is, unlike with other television shows, when BSG comes on the yarn & hook fall in my lap and my hands are still. Eyes focused, unblinking, staring at the screen. Sitting on the edge of my seat, leaning forward. Bruce talks to me a little bit, but he knows I can't really pay attention (I love him for understanding & accepting my obsession.) If Cylons watch TV, they do it like this... unrelenting and holding their breath. I'm a Cylon when Battlestar is on :) The rest of the time, I do my best to be human.

Surrender
I've surrendered to the madness that is Ravelry. For those of you who don't know, it's a bit like Flickr but instead of sharing photos, you're sharing crochet, knitting, yarn, patterns, projects, books, groups... the list goes on & on. It's a huge database in which to store & organize all your own yarn-crafty ephemera, and peek in & loot from others' treasure chests. Maybe I'll be able to finally organize all my yarn. ;)
